Erika Slocum and Jennifer Green - nationally certified massage therapist

Erika Slocum, LMT

Erika is a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute (formerly) in Cambridge, MA. She is a nationally certified massage therapist and licensed in the state of Massachusetts. She has been practicing massage therapy since 2005. She also holds a Bachelor's from Emerson College but began as a dancer at the University of Michigan, which fueled her interest in movement and the human body. Her experience as a dancer and general active lifestyle has helped her understand how muscle groups work together, either in harmony or dysfunction. Each session may integrate a variety of techniques such as deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, sports massage, and soft tissue injury work. She always seeks to create a safe, relaxing, and balanced treatment targeted to the needs of each client.

Erika's focus has increasingly shifted to oncology massage; working with people with cancer, cancer histories, people going through treatment or in the midst of diagnosis. Her capability to work with more complex health pictures has served her in working with this population. It has been a source of immense joy to work with people that are in need of positive and healing touch, but to provide it in a way that is safe, considerate of particular medical information and/or contraindications, and done with deep compassion.

Erika also teaches Tracy Walton's 4-day oncology massage workshop around the country and coaches small groups of massage therapists in practice development. Becoming an educator has been hugely gratifying for her as she goes into her second decade as an MT.

Erika has coursework in pre and perinatal massage, certified through Carole Osborne's program, orthopedic massage with the Ben Benjamin Institute and oncology massage with Tracy Walton.
